Scientific seminar on the topic “The role of microRNA molecules in the mechanisms of development of preeclampsia” was held at the Laboratory of Molecular Physiology of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology of the HSE
On September 18, 2023, a seminar titled "The Role of microRNA Molecules in the Mechanisms of Preeclampsia Development" took place at the Laboratory of Molecular Physiology of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology at the HSE University. The meeting was attended by representatives from the National Medical Research Centre for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology named after Academician V.I.Kulakov of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, who presented their findings on the expression of transforming growth factor beta receptors in placental samples under normal conditions and in cases of preeclampsia. Potential microRNAs implicated in the pathogenesis of the disease were identified. Within the Laboratory of Molecular Physiology, an experiment was conducted involving the induction of hypoxia in BeWo b30 cells as a model of placental trophoblast. Next-generation sequencing results of revealed an increased expression the same microRNAs observed in placental tissue during preeclampsia, suggesting a potential pathogenic mechanism. As a result of the meeting, a collaborative article was prepared and submitted to an international peer-reviewed journal.
