Education
The educational mission of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology is to train highly qualified researchers in the field of fundamental and applied biology for leading Russian and foreign companies, government bodies, knowledge-intensive private structures, research centres, and universities.
The faculty provides fundamental education in biology at the bachelor's level and scientific training at the doctoral school.
Bachelor's degree:
- ensures modern theoretical training with a large amount of practice via practice-oriented disciplines and summer internships at leading biology institutes;
- individually tailored educational trajectories in line with student preferences: in the addition to basic courses, student can choose from a wide pool of faculty- and university-level electives.
Actively supporting the university-wide focus on intensive internationalization, the faculty encourages students to participate in academic mobility and internships in leading Russian and foreign companies. In addition, highly qualified practitioners with academic degrees from Russian and foreign universities teach at the Faculty.
The undergraduate programme is taught in partnership with the IBCh RAS and has a wide range of links with Russian and foreign universities, research centres, government and private organisations, where students can intern. These companies and organisations are among the most popular places of employment for our graduates.
Bachelor's programme
At the bachelor's level, there are currently two educational programs in the specialty of education 06.03.01 Biology:
- in 2019, the Bachelor's program Cell and Molecular Biotechnology was opened;
- in 2022, the Bachelor's program Cognitive Neurobiology was opened.
Master’s Programme
In 2021, Master's in Bioeconomics enrolled its first cohort. In 2023 this educational program was renamed to Cell and Molecular Biotechnology.
Doctoral School
In 2021, we launched a doctoral school in Biology for students interested in an academic career
