As part of the Mirror Laboratories project, HSE and FEFU researchers hold a laboratory seminar on modern approaches of obtaining new models of intestinal tumors

Members of the International Laboratory of Microphysiological Systems A. Poloznikov and S. Nikulin with colleagues from the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) held a joint laboratory seminar on modern approaches of obtaining new models of intestinal tumors. Until recently in research in the field of oncology, cell lines were obtained with the use of 2D cultivation of patient's tumors. Nowadays the combination of extracellular matrix components and growth factors makes it possible to create three-dimensional organelles that preserve the heterogeneity of the original tumor and the molecular portrait. These studies will contribute to a more detailed understanding of the cancer biology and could be applied for the development of new drug strategies. It is planned to conduct a workshop on obtaining new models of gliomas during the return visit.
