Scientific Seminar of the Department

Joint Department with RAS Shemyakin-Ovchinnikov Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry held a seminar to discuss the prospects of using inhibitors of the KDM5 demethylase family to reduce the expression of SARS-CoV-2 receptors on the cell surface and inhibit virus entry into cells.
Preliminary experimental results have shown that it is possible to reduce infection of intestinal barrier model and modified human kidney cells with increased expression of the coronavirus receptor ACE2. Dean of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology A. Tonevitsky and employees of the joint department E. Knyazev, S. Nikulin, D. Maltseva, and M. Shkurnikov were present at the seminar.
