Joint scientific seminar on the topic "Evolution of the SARS-CoV-2 genome under the influence of microRNA"

On March 16, 2023, a scientific seminar titled "Evolution of SARS-CoV-2 genome under microRNA action" was held at Joint Department with RAS Shemyakin-Ovchinnikov Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry in collaboration with the Department of Functioning of Living Systems. 

A report on changes in microRNA binding sites in the SARS-CoV-2 genome as the strains of this coronavirus evolve was presented to the department staff. It was concluded that there was a decrease in binding points for several highly represented intestinal microRNAs, highlighting the possible role of the intestinal epithelium in the evolutionary selection of mutant variants of SARS-CoV-2.
