Evgeny Knyazev Featured in "The Faces of Science" — Portrait Exhibition of Leading Russian Scientists Opened at SPIEF
Evgeny N. Knyazev, Head of the Laboratory of Molecular Physiology at the HSE University Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, has been included in the fifth season of "The Faces of Science" — Russia's major portrait exhibition dedicated to scientists behind breakthrough discoveries. Evgeny Knyazev was selected as a laureate of the Moscow Government Award for Young Scientists; the opening ceremony took place on 5 June 2026 at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
On 5 June 2026, the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) hosted the opening of "The Faces of Science," a large-scale public science project featuring portrait photographs of leading Russian researchers whose work and technologies are shaping the country's future. The fifth season of the exhibition presents 32 scientists from 15 regions of Russia. Among them is Evgeny N. Knyazev, Candidate of Medical Sciences and Head of the Laboratory of Molecular Physiology at the HSE University Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, who was included in the project as a laureate of the Moscow Government Award for Young Scientists.
The 2026 edition of the exhibition follows the concept "Scientists Are the New Rock Stars," developed together with the project's creative partner, CHTIVO magazine. The portraits depict scientists as bold, energetic, and contemporary — individuals who take on the intellectual challenges of our time and are ready to change the world. The photographs were taken by Olga Tuponogova-Volkova, a distinguished advertising and fashion photographer whose work has appeared on the covers of Vogue, Glamour, Harper's Bazaar, GQ, and other leading publications.
The exhibition brings together laureates of the Presidential Prize for Young Scientists in Science and Innovation, winners of the Russian Government Prize in Science and Technology for Young Scientists, recipients of the Sber Science Prize and the national "VYZOV" future technologies award, as well as researchers from leading scientific organizations and high-technology companies across Russia. The project is supported by a grant from the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education and is part of the Decade of Science and Technology initiative "Science is Near."
Throughout the year, the exhibition will be on display at major public venues in Moscow — VDNKh, Sokolniki Park, and Gorky Park — as well as in the Moscow Metro. It will also travel to federal universities across Russia. The season will conclude at the VI Congress of Young Scientists at Sirius University of Science and Technology, 25–27 November 2026, where the featured scientists will take part in panel discussions.
The Laboratory of Molecular Physiology warmly congratulates Evgeny Knyazev on this recognition and looks forward to his continued contributions to science.
